Every year, it seems we wait until the last minute to get our taxes
done. This year was a tad better than normal, but not much, and
it meant a couple of trips back and forth to the accountant or
phone calls with the accountant. That's a big word for a 2yo -
she just kept calling him the Count (a la Sesame Street),
which ironically works too. :)
When we go to Target, we head to the toy section first, let her pick
a baby and a baby stroller and then she roams around with that and
we can actually get our shopping done. (At the end of the trip, she
gets to pick which toys she wants to leave the baby with so that other
kids can play with the baby later on. So far, it works every time!)
The other day, she rammed into the back of D's foot with the little
baby stroller. He turned to her and said "Say excuse me, sweetie."
In all innocence, she asks for clarification: "I burp?"
Even the guy shopping next to us laughed at that one!
I took her to Picture People for a handful of shots of her hugging on
my pregnant belly and we had a lot of fun with it. Then, sweetly,
when we got home, she lined up all of her babies and got her toy
camera for their own little photo shoot. She kept telling them to be
still and that she was almost done. "Show me your happy face!" :)
In the car, in addition to my earlier laments about her always
taking her shoes off, she often also takes the little velcro pads off
from the straps at her shoulders/neck. I then let the straps irritate
her for a bit before putting them back on, hoping that she'll stop
taking them off, but that velcro is just too tempting it seems.
The other day, after removing them yet again, she said:
"I have bare neck." This, I suppose, in addition to the bare feet
she also has from taking off her shoes!
Similarly, when I'm getting out of the car, she says she wants
to be "buckled out" - the natural opposite to being buckled in. :)
She points out the window the other day: "Cookie Monster!"
so I look, and it's a Geico billboard with the stack of money
with the googly eyes on top. Now granted, the googly eyes
DO look very Cookie-esque, but then she says:
"What Cookie doing? Cookie hiding?"
I laugh. Yes, it does indeed look like Cookie is hiding.
The one that tops the rest recently has to be when she was playing
with "her" phone - an old flip phone of mine from back in the day.
She's holding it, looking at the screen, and says "I check my email."
Rock on, sister. Rock on.
